About The Artist

Allyson Manthy

I am a student at University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, majoring in Design and Visual Communication. I am skilled in Adobe applications, specifically, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Bridge, After Effects, and Premiere Pro. Throughout my education, I have taken interests in printmaking, typography, fiber art, and especially design. Outside of school, I am an art teacher for The Shorewood School District’s Recreational Programs and a lead assistant teacher at Milestones Programs For Children. I am passionate about being an early childhood educator and teaching you children about art.

Artist Statement

I have found that the process of healing is an action that I hold close to my heart. As a design student, I find inspiration from the experiences I have been through and my stages of healing and mending. I am inspired by the process of growing and aim for my work to communicate a vision that is cheerful and fluid for the innovative design world. I mix my experiences with playful elements that allow my work to be whimsical and to connect to me as a person. Exploring with nature is a common theme in my artwork because I am fascinated by the different growth and healing stages of nature.

The most interesting aspect of nature is the textures, shapes, and patterns. I tend to explore these elements within my artwork both digitally and physically by incorporating fiber materials into my design work. My goal of creating art is to allow the viewers to be captivated with my piece by exploring all the small details. It is important to me as an artist and designer to remember that the small details in life count and they are important to remember for the process of healing.
